Physische Anthropologie (Thomas Hösche Sammlung)

One of the numerous special research fields within the collections of ZB MED - Information Centre for Life Sciences is Physical or Biological Anthropology. This subject area, to which university chairs were dedicated in the late 19th century, was constituted around this time. With the discovery of the Neanderthal man near Mettmann in 1856 a discussion about the evolution of mankind started, which got a scientific foundation with Darwin.
